campus trip 7/13

more stuff going on every time i visit...a busy 160 square feet...the asparagus is relentless and one plant is sending out a new spear in mid ( almost ) july...there's more asparagus news in the photo appendix below...the maize is rolling right along as well...the second photo is of some support roots that the plants have sprouted...they've sprouted tassels as well as flowers and are on the way to forming ears..i wonder if some critter will beat me to them...squirrels are not my friends...that's why they make repellent...and why i use it...the last photo is of an intermediate wheat grass seed head that is maturing rapidly...they aren't done yet since they are not willing to shatter readily ( the gamagrass did...i harvested the last five available seeds this evening...i will be planting heavily here at home in the fall hoping to establish a fair sized population.. i can always pass it off as ornamental )...the cowpeas are coming up and the jerusalem artichokes ate up to six feet and change...they will be flowering soon...then the tuber fun begins.
