backyard events

a fairly hectic week has had me in many places but the back yard hasn't been chief among them...so when i got home from work i took a stroll out to see what was up and found good news...the yema de huevos in the half barrel have definitely set tubers since some were coming out into the light ( they were covered after the photograph )...you can see the resemblance to a yukon gold and i will be doing a morphological comparison of the ancestor and the true seed that developed from it when the yukons come in...the zucchini in the second photo and the cucumbers in the third are blooming and produce is on the way soon...the handle on the three prong cultivator next to the hopi blue by the jerusalem artichoke bed is five feet long which puts the maize at about four feet and growing...half way there or so...now if we can keep the squirrels away...the bottom photo is a bed of red nordland potatoes in the background and, left to right in front, parsley...another zucchini plant ( holler if you'd like some ) beets and another hopi blue maize...it been good so far this season...mostly because the plants know what to do...here's hoping the second half ( this has been going on since march ) is as good...more as it comes up.
