water

watering an arborvitae tree well in its first year is reasonably critical to its adaptation to its surroundings and its survival...this includes the tree donated to the garden by the alpha kappa alpha sorority on campus...so i hauled some water in to the garden this morning and gave it a fair soak to keep up our end of the bargain...i hauled in water for the potatoes, sunchokes, black tip wheat, and the turnips...why? well...i realize the lowly community garden is probably somewhere near the bottom of the maintenance group's to-do list with all that's is going on...( the garden's move was precipitated by the need to turn the old one into a parking lot because new building is going to obliterate some existing parking )...still...as the garden grows and expands hauling water will become a full-time chore...particularly if we experience another dry summer ( not to mention heat )...we will see what develops...until them i am hoarding plastic gallon jugs.
