cold and shattering

cold is beginning to settle in here on the south end of lake michigan...no surprise...it is nearly the middle of novemeber and that is the proper time of year for things to cool down in these parts...and the teosinte is feeling it...it is dying back...turning brown...and ending its season...the final act..and the whole point form a dna perspective ) perpetuation of the species and the seed ears are trying to do their part..whether the seed is viable, or ewven amture doesn't seem to matter..the husks are peeling back and the seeds are being exposed in preparation of shattering...reproduction for these plants may be frustrated but they served a good purpose for this gardener and i foresee as many seasons of the "wild and weedy" ancestor of maize in my back yard as i can muster...call me a geek...i'll wear it like a badge.
