garlic again

a new plant has appeared , seemingly spontaneously, in the bed of my truck and, at first glance, i thought it was an onion...it is from the allium family but closer inspection revealed garlic..as i recall some garlic came up in there this past spring but did not thrive...i usually don't help these spontaneous plants along ( summer of 2016's jerusalem artichoke needed no help )...
the bulb on this one was completely exposed however and, ;long term, wouldn't have had a chance of survival...so i took a handful of compost and covered it and since it is exposed in the truck i will probably mulch it with some straw...but the aid stops there..it will have to pull its own weight beyond that...
after tending to the garlic i went around the back and the first thing i saw was some teosinte had fallen over...a few years ago this would have caused minor spasms of panic but the fact is teosinte wants to fal over...i believe this is an evolved mechanism to spread the seed away from the parent plant and. like its domesticate descendant, it sustains very little damage and can be easily righted...so i put it back up, secured it with some jute twine, and proceeded to photograph ears...
