sprouts

it's still cold here...about forty-five degrees ( fahrenheit ) when i got home from work so it isn't surprising that things are moving slowly out back still...yet they are moving...the hardiest of the ramps are beginning to leaf...
the egyptian walking onions walked...and they are already looking robust...
there is puzzling new growth on the brussels sprouts which i am looking into...i planted these in spring 2016 and the overwintered into 2017 as a biennial should..however this would be their third season and that should not be...this is not a new plant grown from seed that set last year even though one plant did indeed flower last spring...
you can see the dead stalk in the photo of the new growth coming off the same root stock...i don't imagine this is unheard of...it is odd in my experience though...i will keep digging into this...
and finally, just about dead center in this photo is something that both pleased and relieved me this evening...germinated wheat...einkorn i believe...it has been more than two weeks since i planted it and i was becoming concerned...however, where there is one, there is more...grasses are like that.
